Award-winning comedy duo and Library Theatre favourites Maggie
Fox and Sue Ryding return by popular demand to the Library
Theatre to present four more performances of Jane Bond, their
fast-paced pastiche of all things 007. As refreshing as a
twist of lemon in a bone-dry Martini! Juggling being a supermum
with her role as Commander Jane Bond, she fights the forces
of evil armed only with a clutch bag packed with a collection
of inimitable girly gadgets. Oh, and going blonde helped too.

Hull Truck Theatre Company returns to The Lowry following
the huge success of Perfect Pitch (The Lowry, 2007) with another
hit play by their Artistic Director John Godber. Join May
- widow, mother and grandmother - as she packs up her Northern
council house and heads off for a life in the sun. She’s
trading her neighbourhood nightmares for the Costa del Calm…but
moving out is hard work - and moving on is even harder. Forced
to look forward without her husband Ted, as the van is loaded
and the furniture and ornaments are boxed and sealed piece
by piece, May remembers the hardship, laughter, sorrow and
joy of the past 45 years one last time. A tapestry of memories
unfolds in this tale of changing times; a touchingly funny
journey through life’s ups and downs, birthdays and
Christmases. There is a 2pm matinee

REVENGER'S TRAGEDY |

Starring Stephen Tompkinson. Seeking
vengeance for the murder of his fiancée and the death
of his father, a man attempts to bring down the Duke he holds
responsible and the order that sustains him. Some years ago,
a Duke poisoned Vindice's betrothed for rejecting his advances,
and now Vindice also blames the Duke for the recent death
of his father. Determined to avenge both, Vindice manoeuvres
himself into the lives of the Duke's family and, one by one,
sets them against each other in this biting, powerful and
darkly comic Jacobean thriller. The Royal Exchange are delighted
to announce that Stephen Tompkinson has just been confirmed
to play the part of Vindice. Director, Jonathan Moore, has
a long association with the Royal Exchange as a director,
writer and actor, as well as many other credits to his name.

Mal and Jill Rodale, a middle-aged married couple, are coping
with their share of problems. Secret problems, to avoid hurt
and confrontation, which they hide from each other. Like most
married couples. For Mal, it’s work problems and Sam,
a son who is disappointing him, although Sam doesn’t
disappoint Jill. Jill, meanwhile, worries about her daughter
Chrissie’s marriage, though Mal won’t hear a word
said against her. But a most unexpected sort of help is at
hand; a solution that will change all their lives in ways
they would never have imagined.
Alan Ayckbourn’s 70th play, an ingenious comedy which
asks the audience to question its perceptions of men and women,
shows that the master playwright is still very much on top
of his game. Performance times:
Tuesday to Thursday - 7.30pm, Friday & Saturday - 8pm.

funny show follows the incredible adventures of our handsome
hero Richard Hannay, complete with stiff-upper-lip, British
gung-ho and pencil moustache as he encounters dastardly murders,
double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly
beautiful women. Embroiled in a sinister conspiracy and with
the police and a killer on his trail, it’s a race against
time for Richard who must unravel the mystery of the 39 Steps
and prove his innocence. This wonderfully inventive and gripping
comedy thriller features four fearless actors, playing 139
roles in 100 minutes of fast-paced fun and thrilling action.

Starring the legendary Victor Spinetti, well-loved British
star Anita Harris, Judy Buxton (On the Up) and a supporting
cast to be announced. Whilst Bertie Wooster is out of town,
his gentleman's gentleman, the inimitable Jeeves, is on loan
to the Earl of Towcaster. The Earl has been losing heavily
on the gee gees, so decides to become a bookie but it doesn't
quite go to plan! With an unpaid bet, a furious punter on
his heels, a loud, wealthy, widowed American clairvoyant wanting
to buy his crumbling mansion and his fiancée and his
family asking awkward questions, only Jeeves can sort it out
in his usual impeccable style. This is a sublime comedy from
PG Wodehouse, whose work contains some of the most memorable
verbal sparring and witty one-liners ever written. [back

The Nightwatchmen are an amateur London cricket team, making
up in enthusiasm what they lack in ability. The team-mates
gather on a sunny Sunday and spend the afternoon smoking,
drinking tea and discussing love, politics and the correct
interpretation of the LBW law…‘I’ve wasted
the whole of my life playing this game. It’s claimed
my knees and it occupies every spare synapse in my brain.
I’m not even sure I like it anymore…’ Headlong
Theatre is proud to present the world première of Richard
Bean’s dazzling new play, exploring the modern British
psyche through the powerful lens of a simple game of cricket.
At once brilliantly funny, true and touching, The English
Game asks pertinent questions about race, sexuality friendship
and what it means to be English in 2007. Most suitable for
ages 12+. There is a 2pm matinee on

to The Lowry this Christmas. Adapted by the original writers
from the hugely popular series, this stunning new stage production
follows the hilarious adventures of René, a hapless
café owner in war-torn occupied France, as he and his
wife Edith, struggle to keep for themselves a priceless portrait
stolen by the Nazis and kept in a sausage in their cellar.
Adding to René’s litany of woes the French Resistance,
led by Michelle, force him to aid their persistent attempts
to return two bumbling British airmen to England. René,
caught in the middle of this joyous mayhem must also keep
secret from his wife his long-running affairs with two waitresses
or losing his cherished café may be the least of his
