JENNY
ECLAIR |
| The
Lowry Quays Theatre - (Sun 11th May) |
After the mad success of ‘Grumpy Old Women', self-appointed
grumpy team captain Jenny Eclair has ditched the other ‘old
bags' and decided to go solo. After six years of writing books
(ok, one book), hosting radio shows, doing plays and hanging
out with the ‘grumpy posse', Eclair returns to her hometown
with a brand new stand-up show. (Obviously she won't be standing
up all the time; she'll need to sit down now and again to
stop her ankles swelling). So... expect lots of stuff about
being on the mad side of forty, the odd joke about front bottoms
and a bit of swearing ...oh, yes and she will be wearing her
shiny new jacket that she got in the sale at Selfridges (down
from £199.00 to £49.99 - what a bargain!). If
you are going to treat yourself to a ticket, please laugh
and clap very loudly, as she is a bit deaf and her hormones
are all over the place. Men, accompanied or on the loose,
most welcome. [back to top] |

trading her neighbourhood nightmares for the Costa del Calm…but
moving out is hard work - and moving on is even harder. Forced
to look forward without her husband Ted, as the van is loaded
and the furniture and ornaments are boxed and sealed piece
by piece, May remembers the hardship, laughter, sorrow and
joy of the past 45 years one last time. A tapestry of memories
unfolds in this tale of changing times; a touchingly funny
journey through life’s ups and downs, birthdays and
Christmases. There is a 2pm matinee

alive! Where’s the glamour? Where’s the fun? It’s

His stand-up material is challenging and playful – delivered
with enormous charm and just a little of the trademark sarcasm
we’ve come to expect. Brilliantly sharp and criminally
funny. [back to top] |
