"I'm just a guy from Wigan who's into music and into what we're doing. I don't want to become some sort of spokesperson. But I just want people to enjoy themselves" - Richard Ashcroft

As the frontman and main-attraction to The Verve, it was no surprise that Richard Ashcroft would find success as a solo-artist after the band had split in April 1999.

His debut solo single, "A Song For The Lovers" debuted at Number 3 in the UK charts on April 9th, 2000 and placed the talented singer back in the public eye for the first time since the 1998 release of The Verve's "Sonnet EP".

Richard had earlier guested on U.N.K.L.E.'s "Lonely Soul", which appeared on the soundtrack to Danny Boyle's massive blockbuster movie, "The Beach".

Richard became a father on March 23rd, 2000 (his wife Katie gave birth to a boy, named Sonny) and his highly anticipated debut solo album, "Alone With Everybody", went straight to the top of the UK charts in June 2000. The accompanying single, "Money To Burn", charted at Number 17.

August 28th will see the release of the great "C'mon People (We're Making It Now)" single ahead of his performance at V2000. With so many other good songs on the album, Richard Ashcroft can be expected to dominate the UK charts this summer.
