Manchester United
- The Return of The Magnificent Seven |
At last, United
could hail the King of Old Trafford as Eric returned after
his lengthy ban after kicking Matthew Simmons, the Crystal
Palace fan/thug. The date was Sunday 10th October 1995. United
were facing Liverpool at home. The fixture didn't need building
up as both sets of fans live for this game each season. Cantona's
return gave the game extra spice though and it was only fitting
he scored. His penalty wasn't enough to get the three points
though, as both sides shared the points after a tense but
entertaining 2-2 draw. |

Cantona's Cup |
This video looks
at how Eric Cantona more or less himself, took United through
every round of the FA Cup and then scored the vital goal in
the 1996 final itself. The last minute floating corner, the
David James' punch out, the touch off Ian Rush (his last ever
touch for Liverpool) and then the Frenchman's deadly strike.
It truly was Cantona's Cup. See more of our Manchester
United FA Cup dvds/videos. |
