Toss
The Feathers Live at the Tara Sports & Leisure Club, Shaw
(March 20th 2000)
It's
the night after the Tossers have played an amazing St.Patrick's
Day gig in front of thousands at The Palace in Levenshulme. They
have arrived at the much smaller Tara club in Shaw still buzzing
from their previous night's performance and slightly hung-over
on Guinness.
The
place is packed to the rafters, with the queue for £1-a-pint
Guinness, preventing many others getting in. Everybody is here
for one reason only though - and it ain't the cheap black stuff!
They
perform songs from their back catalogue amid an electric atmosphere,
complete with Irish dancing (in costume). Everybody agrees that
its time The Tossers got back on the road - we all want to see
this formidable five piece again!
With
Paul Daly playing flute in the absence of Mike McGoldrick, you
have to wonder what future lies ahead for this talented musician
after this amazing performance. How TTF churn out so many good
musicians is a wonder in itself - they are almost the celtic version
of John
Mayall's Bluesbreakers.
What
a night! With so many good tunes to mention, it seems a little
unfair to choose highlights, however "Dusty Roads"
and "Whisky In The Jar" certainly went down a
treat... along with the cheap Guinness!
