EAST
IS EAST -
Wed 1st Mar - Sat 4th Mar 2006 - The Lowry |
Set in
Salford in 1970, this masterful, award-winning comedy
tracks the divergent lives of the Khan family as they
struggle to establish their own identities in the
rough and tumble world of mixed cultural backgrounds.
Daily chaos erupts in the Khan’s cramped Salford
terrace as George Khan (known as Ghengis to his family)
tries to assert his traditional values over his increasingly
independent kids. In the process, he succeeds in pushing
the temperature in the living room as high as the
deep fat fryer in the family fish and chip shop! Meanwhile,
beleaguered Mum, Ella - George’s British wife
– battles to keep the family from coming apart
at the seams. Contains some strong language. |
