TARTUFFE-
Tue 16th - Sat 20th May 2006 - The Lowry Salford Quays |
A
comic masterpiece – one of the funniest plays ever written.
The devout and pious Tartuffe is taken into the home of the
wealthy Orgon, whose mother is immediately smitten with him.
The rest of the household, however, believe him to be a con
man. Orgon becomes so enamoured of his new mentor that he
plans to force his daughter to marry him, disinherit his son
and make Tartuffe the sole heir to his fortune! The acclaimed
Watermill last year transferred two productions to New York
and two to the West End and this classic Tartuffe –
staged with impressive period costumes – is certain
to be another huge hit. |
