"Phil and I went straight out to have a look at the Wembley pitch and were greeted by a chorus of 'Stand Up If You Hate Man U'. We've had this abuse before playing for England, but over the last year it's got worse!." - Gary Neville

"We Are Manchester! - We Hate England!"

WHY MANCHESTER UNITED FANS DO NOT SUPPORT ENGLAND

Becks reacts to verbal abuse from England fans.

It's sad but true - many United fans do not support the English national side. We list 10 reasons why this is possibly the case:

1
England fans barrack the United players, especially the country's best player, David Beckham.
2
England fans are largely made up of supporters of London clubs, especially West Ham, Chelsea, Millwall and Gillingham. They also have considerable support from the Yorkshire clubs of Leeds and Barnsley etc., or clubs who have no chance of qualifying for European competition themselves (ie, Manchester City,Bolton Wanderers, and Stockport County)
3
Travelling over Europe following United, fans are often subjected to police hostility. Arriving with an "England" reputation which is so far removed from the 'partying Reds Abroad' behaviour displayed.
4
England team selections have often been dubious from a Manchester United point-of-view. Eg, Steve Bruce never played a single game for England!!! (Yes, that's true!) And how could Hoddle leave Beckham out of the first two games of the World Cup '98 in favour of Darren Anderton?!! How is Heskey ahead of Cole in the selection stakes? United's squad consists of mainly young English players, however England managers continue to select players from worse-performing clubs.
5
England games are always held at Wembley (London's sh*t-hole!)
6
England have a large Combat 18/National Front/facist following where as United are probably the most multi-culture supported club in Britain!
7
Everybody knows that Alan Shearer was the sacred cow of the England team regardless of form - and we all know about his relationship with Manchester United
8
Steve Coppell's playing days were ended by an injury whilst playing for England (Nov'81). Neil Webb suffered the same fate (Sep'89) and Bryan Robson also suffered serious injuries whilst wearing the national shirt
9
United fans have a brilliant relationship with the Germans (who remembers Euro'96 when the bomb went off? Dortmund? the 7,000 reds at the Munich Oktoberfest? and of course the partying in Barcelona?)
10
Eveybody hates United - it winds them up even more when United fans chant "Argentina" or sing "City are better than England!", "Who Made England Cry", "England are sh*t!" and "Stick you f'n England up your a*se!" (Especially to the cockney clubs!)
