Located
18 miles west of Manchester (and only 21 miles from Liverpool),
Wigan is one of the most lively towns in Greater Manchester, offering
a wealth of great attractions as well as being close to the beauty
of the Fylde Coast and the Lake District.

For things to do in
Wigan you are spoiled for choice: There are wonderful heritage attractions
like Wigan Pier and the award-winning Opie's Museum of Memories,
or the 250-acre Haigh Hall and Country Park. For art lovers, there
is the excellent Turnpike Gallery in Leigh, or the Drumcroon Arts
Centre in Wigan. Into sports? Then the world famous Wigan Warriors
Rugby League team play at the new JJB Stadium, as do Wigan Athletic
Football Club, now in Division One.
Wigan has hundreds of restaurants
and is famous for its annual traditional real ale beer festival.
Other festivals that take place in the town include the annual Wigan
International Jazz Festival in July as well as various street festvials.
If the good shops and busy nightlife
are not your scene, then you can relax at Worthington Lakes, the
Leeds to Liverpool Canal or Pennington Flash Country Park. Wigan
has loads to offer for everybody.
