Edinburgh Castle. The museum was opened back in 1991, and
represents the oldest regiment in the British Army, and
therefore classed as the most senior infantry regiment of

fact that Edinburgh is close to the coast is a great attraction
for lots of visitors and means that you don't have to stay
in the city centre to make the most of the Edinburgh.
Within a short drive you can visit beaches, nature reserves
and picturesque villages with quint harbours. These can
be visited for either a day trip or used as a base to stay
that allows you easy access to Edinburgh.

Near Aberlady
Bay.
Aberlady Bay was Britain's first Nature Reserve. It covers
1,439 acres and has a beach, two golf courses and lots of
wildlife. It's a short distance from Edinburgh City Centre
but makes for a great secluded place to get away from the
hustle and bustle of city life.

Near Cramond.
The quaint village of Cramond lies on the south shore of
the River Forth, about 6 miles from the centre of Edinburgh.
It is one of the most desirable of Edinburgh's residential
suburbs. Cramond has a harbour which is home to a number
of yachts.

Near Gullane Bents.
One of the most popular sandy bays in the east of Scotland,
the area is also a conservation area for breeding birds,
foxes, small mammals and a small population of roe deer.
The Bents can be reached by buses from Edinburgh and also
has a carpark and other facilities. |

Portobello is now a suburb of Edinburgh and a very popular
beach resort very close to Edinburgh city centre. It has
a number of quint shops, cafes, tea rooms and bars. Well
worth a visit if you are in the Edinburgh area, or somewhere

Near South Queensferry.
The area has a number of stately homes and a harbour which
has a ferry that takes people from South Queensferry to
the islands within the Firth of Forth. The area plays host
to a number of different fairs and festivals throughout
the year.

An area close to Edinburgh, with a forest, beach and a grassland
area. Yellowcraig is a nature reserve and a sight of scientific
interest. It's also close to two golf courses. Nearby is
the island of Fidra which was the insiration for the book
