2008
was an eventful year in Manchester's theatres with some
big names starring in Manchester productions. Nigel
Havers headlined in Single Spies, Wayne Sleep
reprised in Cabaret, Brenda Blethyn conveyed
in The Glass Menagerie, Patricia Routledge
starred in Crown Matrimonial, Stephen Tompkinson
impressed in Revenger's Tragedy, John Savident
was at home in Hobson's Choice, Maxine Peake
won all the plaudits in Children's Hour, Marti
Pellow starred in Witches Of Eastwick, Anita
Dobson and Darren Day appeared in Hello Dolly,
David Essex popped up twice in Aspects Of Love
and All The Fun Of The Fair, whilst Calendar
Girls featured an all-star cast including Lynda
Bellingham, Patricia Hodge, Sian Phillips, Brigit Forsyth,
Gaynor Faye, Julia Hills and Elaine Smith. Afrika!
Afrika! stunned audiences at The Trafford Centre
whilst Ladyboys Of Bangkok entertained another
tent on Sackville Street. Le Grande Cirque and
Chinese Acrobatic Circus also offered more flexible
entertainers with the wow factor. |
