the ukca - the united kingdom cheerleading association

There are over 11.000 Cheerleaders in Britain who are members of the UK Cheerleading Association. As the National Governing Body, the UKCA reaches over 90% of Cheerleaders in Communities, Schools and Universities. They are the only official UK body to put teams forward to the European Cheerleading Championships.

Pat Hawkins is the president of the association and is fully qualified in Aerobics, Dance, Choreography and Cheerleading. She is internationally recognised as a Cheerleading Coach and Judge and has recently returned from Japan having taken and achieved the highest possible Cheerleading qualifications the World can offer. This effectively means that the association can offer even more to its members.

The UKCA successfully hosted the VIII. Junior European Cheerleading Championships on 5th July 2003 at the Manchester Velodrome
And the UKCA is the only official UK body to put Nationals Teams forward to the World Championships. The UKCA successfully hosted the II. Cheerleading World Championships on 15 - 16th November 2003 in the Manchester Evening News Arena, which saw the champions of Japan retain their title.

Saturday 8th May will see the National Cheerleading Championships take place at the Manchester Velodrome. Officially accepted as a Governing Body for Cheerleading in the UK by CCPR in January 2002. CCPR acknowledge the work to improve safety awareness and coach education undertaken by UKCA.

UKCA is a voluntary organisation.
