Piccolino Italian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments

"I had dined at Piccolino's previously on a Monday night and had enjoyed the experience, so when my husband and I wanted to treat some friends we thought it would be the perfect place. The food was fine but the service was embarrassing. We felt we could not say anything at the time as we did not want to make our guests feel uncomfortable. The food was shoved down without a smile by a number of different waiters, so it wasn't just a case of a poor employee, it was a general attitude. I do not mind paying a lot of money for a meal if the overall experience is good. We usually tip generously but the service on this occassion was appalling. I understand they were busy and it was a Friday night but they should be employing people who can deal with that pressure." - Sophie O'Connor, Manchester - 28/06/07 (visited Friday evening)

"The best Italian restaurant in Manchester! I go regularly for lunch and Saturdays for dinner. Faultless!!! Food top notch!!! The manager knows us very well when we go. Try the Chicken Ceasar Salad. Yum!!! and the Rosemary and Garlic Potatoes..." - Karen McVey, Partington - 27/09/06 (visited Sat lunch)

"I consider that the service was quite poor and the price excessive for the quality and kind of food"
- Lara Martin, Manchester - 22/09/06 (visited Weds evening)

"Food is cooked and served in the Italian way so go for 3 courses as they do in Italy. This is a truly authentic Italian restuarant not like many of the anglicised versions where they serve meat with veg and potatoes - that's just not done in Italy!! Go there and enjoy!!" - Alan Gent, Cheadle - 2/7/06 (visited Fri lunch)

"Excellent restaurant. Staff are always friendly and they always know we appreciate good food. I would definitely recommend, and in fact have done. I go back time and time again. Very simple food done well. Certainly in the best top 2 restaurants in Manchester. Compliments to the manager - he is friendly and runs a good tight ship! Brilliant - no faults at all" - Lisa Flanaghan, Didsbury - 19/6/06 (visited Sun afternoon)
