Olive
Press Italian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments

"The
food was great - My main, the chicken
club sandwich, was only £7.50 and there was a
lot of it. I made the mistake of ordering fries for
a side dish, which was too much. It's enough just with
the sandwich. However the average price of the mains
is about £13-16. The atmosphere was good
- It's also a nice place if you just want to go for
a drink. As mentioned below, my only complaint as such
is that the waitresses are not attentive.
They were stood at the bar chatting. They never asked
us if everything was ok or if we wanted more drinks
and we were also sat with empty glasses. There was only
about 4 tables of people in there, so it wasn't like
they were 'over-busy'."

"Wonderful
restaurant - very modern and great
food. Only gripe on my visit was poor
service - similar to Simply Heathcotes upstairs
really - sat there with an empty glass for half the
meal and the otherwise polite waitresses never revisited
the table after delivering the food - the fish &
seafood casserole - which was delicious!
On another point, they boast about being voted the 15th
Best Value Restaurant in the UK according to the Independent
newspaper's awards. Not sure how as it's rather
expensive - for example a Pizza Margherita
at Olive Press will set you back £6.50 compared
to £4.65 at Croma, £5.45 at Pizza Express
and £5.95 at Piccolino. With other dishes the
price gap gets even wider."
