At
11.20a.m. on Saturday 15th July 1996, a 1.5 tonne I.R.A.
bomb exploded on the corner of Corporation Street and St.
Mary's Gate. This area of the city was completely devastated.
Rising quite literally from
the ashes, the 'Millennium Quarter' has become one of Manchester's
finest areas. Old buildings have been structurally restored
and now house some of the city's best bars and shops. Even
the oldest pub in town was saved (and moved), whilst an
old newspaper publishing house was converted into a brilliant
bar and restaurant complex and renamed The Printworks |
