Sometimes
described as Manchester's Southern Quarter or Student Quarter, the
Oxford Road area is a popular drinking area focused around the 2
mile long road that runs from St Peters Square in the city centre
all the way down to Rusholme.
With
the University of Manchester, UMIST, Manchester Metropolitan Univeristy,
Royal Northern College of Music and Northern Ballet School campuses
all on and around Oxford Road, the area is popular with students for
obvious reasons.
Concert
goers also flock here and there's plenty of bars and pubs near the
Palace Theatre, Manchester Academy, RNCM, Dancehouse Theatre, Green
Room, BBC Studios and Contact Theatre, all of which are located on
or near Oxford Road.
Oxford
Road Station, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital,
Manchester Dental Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital and Manchester Aquatic
Centre are also on Oxford Road.
