'Lifemask'
was an emotional if not musical rebirth for Roy
Harper, who nearly lost his life in 1972 due to a rare congenital
circulatory disorder. When the album was released in early 1973,
it showed Harper, with help
from Jimmy Page, refining the acoustic music he had perfected on
his best ever work, 1971's 'Stormcock'. This CD re-issue is a fantastic
addition to any collection. [buy

The
CD re-issue of Roy Harper's
''Valentine', which was originally released on that day in 1974,
includes a collection of tracks that the Manchester folkster recorded
during the early '70s but did not include on either 'Stormcock'
or 'Lifemask'. The fact that this album somehow gels is testimony
to just how talented Harper
was at this point in his career. Jimmy Page also adds guitar. [buy

The
latest CD from The Oldham Tinkers,
'Sit Thee Down', is compiled from 14 songs on the LP entitled 'Sit
Thee Down', recorded in 1977 and 4 songs from the LP's Deep Lancashire
and Owdham Edge, recorded in 1968 and 1970 respectively'.[buy

Roy Harper has reissued the
superb rock-oriented album and interestingly titled 'Bullinamingvase'
on CD. The controversial track 'Watford Gap', with its lyrics which
defame the town and service station of Watford Gap has been included
together with 'Breakfast With You', the song which originally replaced
it on the 1977 release. The vibrant acoustic guitar work on this
Harper-classic is likely to
never be surpassed. [buy
