Fast Cars were formed in 1978 by brothers Stuart and Steven Murray in
Swinton, Manchester.
Steve had previously formed a band called The Sirens, which later became
The Fall, whilst guitarist Mark 'Lard' Riley went onto be a Radio
1 DJ.
With Steve Murray on vocals, Craig Hilton on lead guitar, Stuart Murray
on bass and Tony Dyson on drums, Fast Cars released the single, "The Kids Just Wanna Dance". They played throughout England between 1978 and 1980 building up quite a good
following before supporting The Jam, The Buzzcocks, XTC, The Rizzillos,
The Chords, The Freshies and others.
After disappearing from the scene, they have returned with a new album,
"Coming Ready Or Not", which is due for release August
2001 in Europe and Japan.
