Manchester
Comedy Guide Award for Best Comedy Show 2009-10 |
2009
was another amazing year for comedy in Manchester
with the likes of Michael McIntyre, Eddie Izzard
and Russell Howard all enjoying massive
gigs at the MEN Arena, whilst huge names playing
sell-out runs elsewhere in town included Ricky
Gervais, Al Murray and last year's winner,
Jimmy Carr. Local boys done good included
Jason Manford, John Bishop, Dave Spikey
and, cycling back into town, Dave Gorman.
The theatre productions of Porridge
and Allo Allo had audiences in stitches
at The Lowry, as did Brendan O'Carroll's new How
Now Mrs Brown Cow, whilst the Fawlty Towers
Dining Experience added a hilarious twist
to eating out. |
2,106
members nominated 41 different comedy shows with
the final result being the closest of all the
awards (the winner taking 12.5% of the vote, just
0.1% more than second place)... |
